California WellBeing Institute To Host HPM Bootcamp for Employers who seek Health Care Cost Containment Strategies
DENVER, Colo. (PRWeb) November 30, 2006 -- The California WellBeing Institute (CWI) in Westlake Village, Calif., built on the highest standards of health and healthy living excellence, will host HPM BootcampMay 22-24, 2007 as part of a nationwide series of three-day, intensive training sessions geared toward corporate leaders in search of a hands-on approach to implementing health and productivity management strategies.
CWI will host the first of 18 on-site, university-style learning events west of the Mississippi River. Featuring an evidence-based and outcomes-driven focus with insights from national experts, HPM Bootcamp will be sponsored by Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, Healthways, Inc. and The Fort Hill Company.
Les C. Meyer, a seasoned health care strategist and CEO of HPM Advisors, Inc., a Denver, Colo.-based think tank and creator of HPM Bootcamp, describes CWI’s groundbreaking new facility as “the perfect environment for hosting our event. Between their property and our program, attendees will benefit from a powerful, winning combination that surely will raise the educational bar to new heights.”
Adds Steve McBeth, president of Arcus Healthy Living Services, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of WellPoint, Inc., the nation’s largest health benefits company in terms of membership: “This program offers a new innovative approach that delivers leading-edge techniques to employers of all sizes across the U.S. as part of rigorous training and continuing education for benefits managers who are eager to learn about best practices.”
Arcus is a co-venture partner in CWI along with Dole Food Company, Inc. Chairman David Murdock, whose $300 million state-of-the-art complex opens Nov. 29 across from Dole headquarters on 20 lush acres with cascading waterfalls and pristine gardens. CWI includes a diagnostic medical center, 270-room luxury hotel and 28-treatment room spa managed by Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts.
HPM has taken on a sense of urgency in California where obesity and a sedentary lifestyle last year cost employers $28 billion in health care expenses and lost productivity, according to the state’s Department of Health Services. The San Francisco Chronicle recently reported that improving the health of just 10% of residents with obesity-related health problems could save $13 billion in five years.
McBeth lauded HPM Bootcamp for promoting new thinking about employee wellness. His hope is that the training session will arm scores of WellPoint business customers throughout the Los Angeles metropolitan area with fresh ideas and practical tools that can be applied to their respective workplaces.
Described in a recent USA Today article as “an unprecedented combination of pampering and on-site diagnostic testing,” CWI features a contemporary two-story medical facility operated by the California Health and Longevity Institute. Patrons of the facility have access to all the latest medical equipment as well as a team of four radiologists, four internists, nutritionists, “life advisers,” a dermatologist, dentist and visiting physicians from the famed Mayo Clinic.
Another WellBeing Institute is planned within the next 18 months on the Hawaiian island of Lanai where the Four Seasons also manages two of Murdock’s properties. An HPM Bootcamp event will be held in Lanai February 26-28, 2008. The complete 2007 schedule is available at www.HPMbootcamp.com.
HPM Advisors is a think tank of national experts creating answers to the problem of health care in America. Its training arm, HPM Bootcamp, is the vehicle that moves 30,000-foot theory into actionable health and productivity management strategies for employers of all sizes. HPM Bootcamp is a nationwide series of accredited, intensive training sessions that focus on the approach, design and implementation of health and productivity management programs with immediately actionable information.
