MagiQuest In Myrtle Beach, S.C. Debuts New Quests And A New Adventure With All Day "Launch Party"

Myrtle Beach, S.C. (PRWEB) December 1, 2006 -- MagiQuest, located at Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach, S.C., will introduce new quests and an adventure that feature two new characters during an all day "launch party" beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 2. Each of the first 100 "Master Magi" to attend the launch party and take the challenge of the new quests and adventure will receive one free hour of play. The launch party will also feature free dueling all day, 25 percent off all toppers and Runes, and the opportunity to win prizes including free time, gift cards and more.

MagiQuest is the first live-action, interactive adventure game of its kind in the world, and the new additions to the game are designed to enhance the experience for the game's most seasoned players who are called "Master Magi." There are more than 110,000 Magi (players who possess a magic wand and can make magic in the land of MagiQuest) from all 50 states and several foreign countries. However, only about 10,000 have attained "Master Magi" status by conquering all previously available Quests.

"Thanks to the overwhelming support the game has received from all of our Magi, we've been able to extend the fantasy realm of the Kingdom of MagiQuest," said Tim Ruedy, vice president of operations for Burroughs & Chapin Company's sports, entertainment & recreation department. "On December 2, Master Magi will meet some totally new characters who connect to the inhabitants of our Kingdom in some intriguing and surprising ways. And the new additions will really put our experienced Magi to the test."

The new challenges build on the mythology surrounding the mysterious Quest Master of MagiQuest, and are designed to test those who have reached "Master Magi" status. A new character, "Carren," is introduced as the daughter of the Quest Master's outcast brother, Xavier. Carren guides players through a difficult journey to gain Fire, Shield and Potion Runes (Runes are powers that players accumulate by completing Quests). Once these Runes are acquired, the Master Magi can participate in the ultimate dual with another new character, "Winterra," the Ice Dragon.

Characters to appear in person at launch party
The character of Carren, as well as the venerable Quest Master, will make special appearances at the launch party throughout the day.

"We expect launch day to be very exciting as it is the first time that we will be introducing new characters and challenges at MagiQuest since it opened in 2005," said Ruedy. "These characters and their stories have been in development for nearly a year as we refined the technology and their 'back stories.' And it will be a lot of fun to have Carren and the Quest Master here to meet our loyal Magi."

About MagiQuest
MagiQuest, at Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach, S.C., is the first MagiQuest in the world. MagiQuest is the first entertainment venue of New Kingdoms, LLC, a joint venture of Burroughs & Chapin Company, Inc. of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Creative Kingdoms, LLC of R.I.

MagiQuest is a live-action adventure game that immerses players in a world of fantasy propelled by sophisticated technology. To participate in the game, each player receives a "magic wand" powered by patented technology that brings MagiQuest's 20,000 square foot "enchanted" realm to life.

In one respect, MagiQuest parallels the architecture of a video game. Players select from a variety of Quests and Adventures that, once successfully completed, result in an accumulation of special powers. As these powers increase, players proceed to higher levels of the game where the level of difficulty also increases.

But MagiQuest is not confined to a computer screen. It places players inside of a three dimensional, interactive fantasy world where players must follow clues that lead deeper and deeper into a magical realm populated by a dazzling range of characters and creatures. It fosters a problem-solving, shared discovery process between family members of all ages.

MagiQuest was featured as the cover story in the October 2006 issue of FUNWORLD, the magazine of the International Association of Amusement Parks & Attractions (IAAPA). IAAPA has more than 8,500 members in 82 countries.
