Parents of Florida Teenager Killed in Tel Aviv Terrorist Attack to Show "Obsession" on Capitol Hill Today In Honor of Son's Birthday
Washington, D.C. (PRWeb) December 5, 2006 -– The Daniel Cantor Wultz Foundation (http://www.dcwfoundation.org) will show the documentary, "Obsession: Radical Islam's War Against the West," today, December 5, 4:30pm, at 2168 Rayburn, House Office Building, Gold Room, Washington, D.C. Daniel Wultz, an American teenager from Weston, Florida, died on Mother's Day after a terrorist attack on a Tel Aviv restaurant where he and his father, Tuly Wultz, were dining during a vacation to Israel. This Wednesday would have been his 17th birthday. His parents, Tuly and Sheryl Wultz, and sister, Amanda Wultz, are traveling to Washington from South Florida for the screening and to talk about the actions they are taking to educate the public and policy-makers on behalf of a safer, more peaceful world.
Representatives Eric Cantor (R-VA) and Debbie Wasserman Shultz (D-FL) are co-sponsors of the event. Reverend Luis Cortes, one of the nation's most prominent Hispanic leaders, will also attend.
Rep. Cantor said, "It is of great significance that the Daniel Cantor Wultz Foundation is sponsoring the screening of 'Obsession' on Capitol Hill on the eve of what would have been Daniel's 17th birthday. Daniel was an American citizen living in Weston, Florida, who was killed this past spring by a suicide bomber while visiting his grandparents in Israel. We must continue to raise awareness of the threat of terrorism in America, and against Americans, through documentaries like 'Obsession.' We must use our democratic legislative process to continue to draft, support and pass legislation that stops terrorism, its sponsorship and funding sources."
Rep. Wasserman Shultz, speaking on the floor of the House shortly after Daniel's death, said, "How, if we want to raise our children as tolerant, understanding, open-minded individuals, do we teach them to look out for certain people who may want to do them harm, without painting an entire people with the same broad brush? Naturally, we teach them that they should be cautious about strangers in general, wary of people who act in a certain way … Mr. Speaker, as a Jew, as a Member of Congress, as an American, but, more than anything, as a mother, I rise this evening to honor the memory of Daniel Wultz and to ask my colleagues to join me in condemning in the strongest possible way the ongoing cowardly terrorist attacks perpetrated against innocent victims in Israel and throughout the world. Hate is a weapon from which there is no safe haven."
