Knifemakers' Guild Annual Knife Show August 1 thru August 3, 2008 in Orlando, FL; Meet the Knifemakers in Person
Jacksonville, FL (PRWEB) July 11, 2008 -- This is your opportunity to meet World Class custom knifemakers (http://www.knifemakaersguild.com) at the annual Knifemakers' Guild show. Many knives are purchased from knife dealers, shops and even from the Internet. But there is nothing like purchasing a knife directly from the maker. What better way to appreciate a beautifully crafted knife then to hold it in your hand, feel the perfect balance, and enjoy the workmanship, the precision ground blade with a mirror finish or the spectacular patterns in a Damascus blade. All this is possible at the annual Knifemakers'Guild Show where famous knifemakers from the United States and 12 other countries will be displaying and selling their latest knife designs.
While custom made knives have been made for Presidents of the United States, Governors, Senators, movie stars, and celebrities including knife enthusiasts from all walks of life, you can own one too. Gil Hibben, President of the Knifemakers' Guild is one of many custom knifemakers who has been involved in making knives for the movies. In 1987 Hibben was selected by Sylvester Stallone to create the knife for "Rambo III". After 20 years Hibben was again called upon to create a knife for the 2008 "Rambo" movie. He is also the "Official Klingon Armorer," having created the Klingon knives and swords seen in the "Star Trek" movies.
Every year four Guild members are selected to create special knives for the annual Knifemakers' Guild Show (http://www.knifemakers.com). Bill King designed a gentleman's folder with heat colored Damascus bolsters, file work and a mushroom shaped thumb stud inlaid with a ruby. The scales are ivory with colored scrimshaw. Warren Osborne created a gentleman's lockback with Damascus blade and interframe construction. The scales are blacklip mother of pearl into white mother of pearl. Gayle Bradley designed a two blade trapper with double bolsters and oosic scales. Marvin Solomon created a drop point hunter with a nickel silver guard and intricately pinned ivory scales. Any one attending the knife show will be eligible to win one of these four knives and winners do not have to be present at the drawing.
In order to show their appreciation for the honorary members the President's Gala will be held on Thursday July 31, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. for the Honorary Members, Guild Members and Associate Members. Honorary Members receive the newsletter published four times a year. They pay no admission fee at the annual Knifemakers' Guild Show and are admitted one hour before the show opens to the public allowing them to see the maker's newest creations first. One new Honorary Member will be selected by random drawing to receive a FREE plane ticket and hotel accommodations for next year's Guild show. To become an honorary member please visit www.knifemakersguild.com
If you love knives do not pass up the opportunity to meet the knifemakers, collaborate on having a knife designed specifically for you and admire an amazing variety of knife designs that will dazzle any knife enthusiasts.
