Arizona's Biggest Putting Green Opens at Active Adult Golf Community Near Tucson

(PRWEB) July 7, 2008 -- Eighteen holes of golf have opened for play at K. Hovnanian's Four Seasons® Rancho del Lago (http://www.khov.com/tucsonactiveadult), an active adult community located near Tucson in Vail, Ariz.

It's not a golf course. It's a putting green ... a very, very big putting green.

Anchored by a multi-armed, 30-foot-tall Saguaro cactus indigenous to the setting, the 37,000-square-foot waterless green has 18 putting holes, including a designated green with two holes exclusively for chipping. These holes are complemented by manicured sand traps.

The Four Seasons golf feature was the brainchild of Toby Bourguet, president of Tucson Turf Waterless Lawns, a locally owned and family operated company.

"The Four Seasons putting green nearly an acre and is more than three times larger than the biggest we can identify in the state of Arizona," Bourguet said. "Designing and building it was an incredible challenge. Each phase was a process in itself. Now that it's finished, we're very proud of this landmark."

The putting green is characterized by rolling hills and knolls set against a backdrop of the scenic Rincon Mountains.

The K. Hovnanian and Tucson Turf team painstakingly selected the turf with relentless attention to detail. All three greens are wrapped by plush fringe turf that uses a dual color blade system to give them a freshly mowed appearance.

"We had many options," Bourguet said. "The turf we chose is American made and the same surface as the Dallas Cowboys Stadium. I figured if it was good enough for Jerry Jones, it would work well for us."

Bourguet adds that turf products are very eco-friendly. "This turf saves nearly one million gallons of water a year compared to what is required to maintain an acre of grass in the desert. We save an astronomical amount of water, gas and oil. Artificial turf actually drains better than real grass. Our products work well in Tucson and have built-in UV protection that holds up well in the sun."

In addition to the Four Seasons putting green, the Rancho del Lago master plan includes an 18-hole golf course, nine lakes and the del Lago Golf Club.

"Active adults who love golf will love living at Four Seasons® Rancho del Lago (http://www.khov.com/tucsonactiveadult)," Andy Pedersen, K. Hovnanian Homes regional marketing director, said. "We've purposefully created a highly desirable, highly amenitized living environment."

Home owners at Four Seasons, a gated community, will have exclusive use of

The Lodge clubhouse with a lobby/living room at the central core, a high-tech fitness center, billiards room, arts and crafts room and a multi-purpose area. Four Seasons outdoor attractions include two pools, sports courts, an events lawn, and walking trails.

Three collections of floor plans ranging from 1,200 to more than 2,800 square feet are offered. Twelve on-site, fully decorated model homes are now open. Prices start from the $170s.

To visit Four Seasons take I-10, exit Vail Road north. Go left on Via Rancho del Lago to the Four Seasons entrance.
