Harris is re-launching her "Flip Flop" clothing store as "Found Décor and Design," combining home decorating and accessories with professional architecture and design services.
In a metropolis teeming with home décor and architecture resources, this is the first such combined, retail-oriented enterprise in the region. "People are rethinking their options relative to selling versus remodeling," says Harris, a Phoenix native who returns to the area after relocating her clothing boutique from Southern California. "It makes sense to integrate the reinvention of your home, or even just a new look and feel, with expertise and aesthetic sensibilities that meld the processes and expand your options."
On the architecture side, Milander brings a background in residential and commercial architecture with an emphasis on green living and sustainability. "Homeowners can't afford to take consumables like energy for granted anymore," says Milander. "When you design a space with an eye toward the décor, and vice versa, the potential effect can be both astounding and cost-effective." Décor options run from organic to boho modern, with displayed furnishings, accessories and surfaces as well as catalog shopping. "The idea is to place no limits on what you can do with your home," says Harris, who plans to offer wine and cappuccino while perusing product literature and catalogs from around the world.
