Golf Swing Aids: Man This Game Is Rough!
Not one of the golf swing aids that I've ever tried (until recently) has relieved me of my eternal dissatisfaction with my golf game.
I have hovered above the telephone with credit card in hand at 3:30 in the morning buying one gizmo after another in search of the answer to my constant barrage of 97s and 95s.
Yes, I have cried on a golf course, and I believe that has strengthened the rest of my life...just not my golf life.
And when all was about to be lost, a relative of mine surprised me this past holiday season with a golf swing aid that I, naturally scoffed at. I mean, what would this one do that the others had not? What could this contraption accomplish that the others, sitting in my garage, couldn't.
For one thing, this one took no prisoners...especially my upper body. When worn, it locks the arms into their natural downward progression and create what is known as the Perfect Triangle (of power). Imagine two lines forming the arms with your waist as the bottom of the triangle and you get the visual.
But here's where the mystery ends and my golf love begins anew...this thing actually teaches your muscles how to remember the correct motions and physics because it DEMANDS IT. By holding the typical variables in place, it allows the user to just swing. Imagine that!
It is perfect as a warm up tool in that it creates great "muscle memory" that you can take to the first tee with confidence. It takes the head out of the sport which, for this duffer, is where the head needs to be kept.
Having discovered this little not-so-hidden-anymore-gem, I know that my 3am nights with my Visa card in hand are fading away. On the flip side, I know that my attempt to find one of the golf swing aids that actually works has now brought me countless sleep-filled nights.
