Latest California Polls Suggest Fluid Race Between Mitt Romney and John McCain

On February 5, 2008, aptly named "Super Tuesday", a record number of states will be holding caucuses and primaries around the country.
In the Republican race, New York, New Jersey and Connecticut are awarding the winners of the state all of their delegates. Mitt Romney is effectively conceding these Northeastern states to John McCain. This makes California key to Mitt Romney's campaign, according to USAElectionPolls.com, as the delegates will be awarded by congressional district.
USAElectionPolls.com has been publishing the latest California primary polls and finds the race to be very fluid. Each of the polls show John McCain ahead but a couple of them do show Mitt Romney in a statistical tie with John McCain.
As of today, the latest released California poll (http://www.usaelectionpolls.com/2008/california.html) at USAElectionPolls.com was one by Rasmussen Reports, which was conducted at the end of January. John McCain had 32 percent in that poll with Mitt Romney pulling 28 percent of support. The Field Poll which was conducted in the middle of January had John McCain and Mitt Romney at 23 percent and 21 percent, respectively. Other polls show John McCain's advantage to be as much as double digits.
USAElectionPolls.com points out that all these polls included Rudy Giuliani and because Giuliani was pulling an average of 15 percent in these polls, where his supports go will be critical to the race. Giuliani, along with the Arnold Schwarzenegger, California Governor, have both endorsed John McCain.
