Ectaco, Inc. Unveils iTRAVL to Widespread Acclaim at the 2007 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas
New York, NY (PRWeb) February 12, 2007 -- The enthusiastic response that greeted the new ECTACO iTRAVL translation handheld at CES 2007 came as no surprise to anyone already familiar with Ectaco, Inc. and previous Ectaco releases.
Hailed as another triumph for the outstanding team of linguists, designers and programmers from one of the world leaders in the field of handheld information technology, the new device was praised for its unique design and considered one of the best looking of the event. With the showcasing of the new iTRAVL devices, Ectaco gave visitors at the conference a chance to become familiar with a new tool that is set to revolutionize the way people travel and communicate - and the reactions were universally positive.
Ectaco CEO, David Lubinitsky said, "We are very gratified by the reaction the iTRAVL got at CES. Especially pleasing was the fact that most people were able to pick up the new device and operate it immediately without any instruction at all - something that is rare for such a sophisticated device. As soon as we saw even young users able to operate the device we knew we had a winner."
Among the features that particularly impressed visitors were the handheld's full color screen and external speaker - a combination no other companies feature in their translation devices. Giving high marks for overall design and usability, visitors to the Ectaco stand also appreciated the iTRAVL Language Teacher program and its use of color, pictures and ease of navigation to make it both enjoyable to use and effective in accomplishing the task of improving users command of a second language. According to visitors, another big plus over other handheld translators was the ability of the iTRAVL to accept additional language content.
CEO Lubinitsky went on to say, "Many users criticized other company's limited-use devices that quickly become obsolete and we're very excited by the fact that an almost unlimited number of new language pairs can be added to the iTRAVL. They felt that it made the device much more attractive and something they could see growing with their needs."
This new traveller device packs the 2007 Fodor's Travel Guide, covering 50 most popular cities; the CIA factbook on over 180 countries and a media player pre-loaded with walk-through audio narrations for the Louvre, Orsay Museum and Versailles and can be easily upgraded with other audio guides for tourists who visit major cities in the world.
Probably the most excitement was reserved for the Speech Recognition and Machine Translation capabilities of the iTRAVL. Amazed speakers of many different languages were given the opportunity to speak into the device and were delighted with the ability of iTRAVL to understand what they said and pronounce a translation back in another language using authentic native-speaker voices.
As always, Ectaco used the occasion to listen to what users had to say and took every opportunity to get real-life feedback about what users liked most and wanted to see added to future releases. One of the greatest concerns that user's expressed was about battery life, which Ectaco was pleased to confirm is as long or longer than other similar handhelds with the added benefit of a rechargeable battery-pack included with the device and the option to operate using the batteries or an AC adapter. Now all that remains is to see just how far-reaching the effect of the ECTACO iTRAVL release will be on world travelers. If the reaction at CES 2007 is anything to judge by, we can look forward to seeing the iTRAVL in the hands of every smart traveler - young and old - from Paris to Patagonia.
