The Breckenridge real estate market is booming. During the 1990s Breckenridge averaged a 10% real estate appreciation rate. After September 11th the Breckenridge real estate market declined, which was a direct reflection of the overall decline in real estate sales nationwide. However, during 2003 and 2004 Breckenridge real estate rose again to levels of 9%. This reached new heights during 2005 and 2006 with appreciation levels of 20% and more. Breckenridge real estate continues to grow and beat all previous real estate records.
It is hard to determine why Breckenridge real estate sales have appreciated to these high levels while other real estate markets have declined. Theories abound. With a large percentage of buyers being second home owners it is easy for them to commute from Denver, Colorado Springs, Fort Collins, and other nearby locations. This makes Breckenridge an ideal weekend getaway. Breckenridge is also within easy reach of the Denver and Colorado Springs airports.
Another theory is that Breckenridge real estate offers true value for money. The price of real estate at some of the more well-known mountain and ski resorts such as Aspen, Vail, Beaver Creek, and Telluride have reached exorbitant levels. Real estate prices in Breckenridge are still viewed as being reasonable and a great investment.
